EduVision
EduTravel was founded on the principle that a successful business goes beyond numbers. It must include the lasting effects of its operations on both the environment and the local communities that it touches. A dedication to this triple-bottom-line means that EduTravel will always hold itself accountable to all of the stakeholders involved in its tours, while serving a greater purpose.
Social Impact
At Edutravel, we believe that communities are based on relationships built on a foundation of trust, communication, and mutual benefit to all parties involved. This includes teachers, parents, suppliers, employees, and, most importantly, the student-traveller. Our goal is to instill knowledge, tolerance, and valuable life skills in all student participants by offering a responsible, transparent and recreational travel experience.
Total Inclusiveness
EduTravel believes that student travel is an integral part of the learning experience. We strongly believe that this style of experiential learning opens minds and bridges cultural divides. With this philosophy in mind, EduTravel is committed to making sure that no student gets left behind. In addition to offering gratifying fundraising programs, EduTravel may, under special circumstances, offer travel scholarships to students who display high academic achievement, leadership in the community, and need for financial assistance.
Local Experience
“When in Rome do as the Romans do.” If you think about it, what better way to inspire student travellers about a local place then with an authentic local experience? This means using local tour guides, eating at local restaurants, and immersing our students in the local environment while teaching and engaging students in local customs, and traditions. Aside from an enriched authentic experience, it allows your travel dollars to support the local communities that host our tours. It grants us the opportunity to remunerate local businesses and families, which in turn develops the local communities.
Social Justice Aspect
EduTravel is committed to working in close proximity with teachers to assure its itineraries are curricular-literate and fun for the traveler. Yet we want to do more! We recommend to all trip planners to include a social justice component that helps enrich the overall learning experience, and inspires a sense of responsibility. Some examples could include a visit to the Black History Museum in Washington DC, the Tolerance Museum in New York City, the Aboriginal Experience in Ottawa, or even the opportunity to volunteer with a local community project.
Environmental Impact
Traditionally, the travel industry is not synonymous with environmental sustainability. However, at EduTravel we are rewriting the rules! We are committed to partnering with suppliers who share our values regarding sustainable travel. We work with our affiliate environmental organizations and donate 1% of our total sales to environmental charities, to offset our carbon footprint and make amends through green initiatives and donations.
