Walk in the footsteps of great Canadians as you learn about our rich heritage and the true Canadian experience. Discover first hand what it means to be a responsible citizen, locally, nationally and globally. Understand what role Canada plays within an increasingly interconnected global community.

Toronto (Day 1)- Pre-trip Orientation

Toronto (Day 2)

Begin your trip with a homegrown opportunity. Breakfast with a local politician and provide input into shaping your community of the future. Volunteer for the day at a charity to understand the needs of the local community and feel the pleasure of helping others.

              

Ottawa (Day 3-6)

Then, board the bus to Ottawa where you will be able to immerse yourself in Canadian politics, culture and heritage. Learn what happens on the Hill as you discover monuments of notable Canadians and events. Visit the Museum of Civilization where you will develop an appreciation of the past and present values and beliefs of Canadian citizens. Get acquainted with some of the remarkable individuals who have shaped our nation and explore the traditions and achievements of its First Peoples. Students will be able to explore a multitude of career related opportunities in this, the capital of our country.

                                   

New York City (Day 6-9)

 Next, it’s off to New York City and the United Nations. Understand the significant role that Canada assumes as world-renowned peacekeepers and learn how our country has helped to shape the expectations for universal human rights. Students will have the opportunity to discover themselves as they discover the world around them. This integrated approach to completing the Civics and Careers course will help students to uncover their passions, set future goals, and enhance their leadership skills.

                

Toronto (Day 10)

Summatives are reviewed and marks are submitted

Your choice of assessments may include: design your own mayoral campaign; plan a charitable event; interview and prepare a documentary on a notable Canadian or event at the local, provincial or national level; write a biography or career profile on a provincial Minister of your choice; critique the photos of journalists from around the world who have captured the most current issues through the lens of their cameras; or create a detailed future career plan that includes components of civic contributions. These are only a few of the many opportunities you will have to demonstrate your knowledge, understanding and skill as you complete the requirements for the Civics and Careers credits.

                                  

 

Tuition: $979 (+ $80 taxes and fees) + Optional double room supplement (+ $250)

Tuition Includes:  Transportation by luxury Highway Motorcoach (W/C, DVD, A/C); $150 allowance for admission to  course-specific sights as well as group activities; Course materials; Ontario Ministry-approved credit upon fulfilling course requirements; Accommodations (quad accomodation); Breakfast and Dinner daily; Overnight Security; All applicable taxes.
